Flyers Dominate Wild with 6-Goal Victory

After two close losses to top teams, the Flyers put on a show at home, defeating the Wild 6-2 in a commanding victory.

The Philadelphia Flyers had a strong response to their recent road losses against Stanley Cup contenders, delivering an impressive performance on home ice. In a dominant 6-2 win over the Minnesota Wild at the Wells Fargo Center, the Flyers established a 3-0 lead through two periods and maintained control of the game in the final stanza.

Travis Sanheim was instrumental in the Flyers’ victory, contributing a goal and two assists for a three-point performance. Sanheim’s exceptional play this season has not gone unnoticed, with teammate Owen Tippett praising his impact on the team’s defensive efforts. Goaltender Carter Hart had an outstanding performance, making 26 saves on 28 shots to earn his fourth win of the season. Head coach John Tortorella praised Hart for his stellar play, highlighting his crucial saves throughout the game.

The Flyers also saw some physicality early in the game when Nicolas Deslauriers engaged in a spirited fight with Pat Maroon just two seconds into the game.

In roster news, the Flyers made the decision to reassign prospect Emil Andrae to their AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Andrae, a 21-year-old defenseman playing in his first full season in North America, will benefit from additional experience and playing time in the AHL. Head coach John Tortorella emphasized the importance of developing players properly and providing them with the necessary opportunities for growth.

Additionally, the Flyers called up defensemen Louie Belpedio and Victor Mete from the Phantoms to bolster their defensive depth. Belpedio made his fifth career NHL appearance, while Mete provided support on the blue line.

Notably, Morgan Frost, who played in 81 games last season, has been a healthy scratch for five of the Flyers’ first seven games this season. The 24-year-old center continues to work hard and stay prepared, hoping for an opportunity to contribute to the team’s success.

The Flyers will have a day off on Friday before facing the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday afternoon.
