Athlete of the Week
Berlin Brothersvalley soccer player Maddy Richardson has been voted as the Daily American Somerset County Female Athlete of the Week. Conemaugh Township’s Cameron Dunn has been selected as the Football Athlete of the Week, and North Star soccer player Hemminger has been chosen as the Male Athlete of the Week for their outstanding performances from Oct. 16-19.
Richardson recorded a hat trick in a soccer victory against Ligonier Valley.
Dunn had an 83- and 84-yard kickoff return for touchdowns in a narrow loss to Marion Center.
Meanwhile, Hemminger scored two goals and provided an assist in a 5-2 soccer victory over Northern Bedford.

District 5 Class 2A semifinals
Somerset 5, Chestnut Ridge 0: The second seed Golden Eagles shut out the third seed Lions to advance to the championship match.
Girls soccer
District 5 Class 1A quarterfinals
Conemaugh Township 9, Fannett-Metal 1: Ashlyn Fetterman scored three goals and provided three assists to lead top-seeded Conemaugh Township to victory over Fannett-Metal.
Olivia Mauzy scored two goals, while Izzy Slezak and Briar Berkey each scored a goal and provided an assist. Sophia Stango added a goal, and Andi Hunsberger and Matty Mauzy each contributed an assist.
Conemaugh Township will host No. 4 seed Northern Bedford on Monday at 6 p.m.
Windber 3, Berlin Brothersvalley 0: Riley Brubaker scored a goal and provided an assist for the third seed Ramblers in a shutout win against the sixth seed Mountaineers.
Kaylee Dowdell and Mariah Andrews each scored a goal, while Nici Costlow provided an assist. Rylee Baer kept a clean sheet.
Windber will visit second-seeded McConnellsburg for a 6 p.m. semifinal matchup.
Northern Bedford County 5, Rockwood 3: Mollie Wheatley scored two goals and provided an assist for the fifth seed Rockets in a loss to the fourth seed Black Panthers.
Addie Barkman scored a goal, while Faith Foy and Autumn Mowry each contributed an assist for Rockwood.

Tuesday
Cross country
Somerset freshman Emily Fisher won the District 5 Class 2A girls cross country championship with a time of 19:10.
Somerset’s Jared Walker (20:35) and Ethan Speelman (20:37) finished ninth and tenth, respectively, to qualify for the state championship.
The Johnstown Christian girls team won the Class 1A team title. Lydia Hostetter finished second with a time of 22:49. Meyersdale’s Aurora Comfort (23:28) took third place.
Meyersdale won the Class 1A boys team title. Windber’s Garrett Page (18:10) finished second, while Meyersdale’s Bryan Donitzen (19:12) took fifth place.
