McLaren overtake Aston Martin after USGP

Max Verstappen emerged as the victor of the 2023 Formula 1 world drivers’ championship after securing a second-place finish in the Qatar Grand Prix Sprint. The Dutch driver entered the Qatar Grand Prix weekend with a sizeable 177-point lead over his Red Bull Racing teammate, Sergio Perez. Verstappen only needed to earn three points to seal his third consecutive championship. The season started with Verstappen and Perez alternating wins in the first four races.
