Last Sunday’s race in Las Vegas was an exhilarating experience for many, including Kyle Larson. The Hendrick Motorsports driver faced a close call in the opening race of the Round of 8 but managed to keep the car on track, ultimately holding off Christopher Bell and securing his second postseason victory.
This win automatically grants Larson a spot in the Championship 4, a familiar position for him as the defending Cup Series champion of 2021.
With just two events remaining in the round, only three spots are left for the championship races. Leading the wins leaderboard, William Byron is in a favorable position, sitting second in points behind his teammate Larson, with an 11-point cushion above the cut-off line.
Denny Hamlin and regular-season champion Martin Truex Jr. are also within the top four, with Truex holding a mere three-point advantage over Bell. Tyler Reddick, Ryan Blaney, and Chris Buescher are currently on the outside looking in.
Homestead-Miami Speedway, formerly the season finale track, has witnessed a variety of winners. Larson emerged victorious in last year’s race, while Hamlin, Byron, and Truex have all tasted victory on this 1.5-mile oval.
