THUNDER EXERCISES OPTIONS ON DIENG, GIDDEY, HOLMGREN, MANN AND WILLIAMS

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oct. 21, 2023 – The Oklahoma City Thunder has announced that it will exercise contract options for several of its talented players. Forward Ousmane Dieng, forward/center Chet Holmgren, guard/forward Jalen Williams, and guards Josh Giddey and Tre Mann have all had their contracts extended, according to Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti.

During his rookie season, Dieng played in 39 games (including one start) and showcased his skills by averaging 4.9 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in just 14.6 minutes. Dieng, who was the 11th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, has proven to be a valuable asset to the Thunder.

Holmgren, selected second overall in the 2022 NBA Draft, unfortunately missed last season due to a Lisfranc injury. However, the highly-anticipated player is ready to make his NBA debut in the upcoming 2023-24 season. Jalen Williams, chosen 12th overall in the 2022 NBA Draft, had an outstanding rookie season. He appeared in 75 games, starting in 62 of them, and boasted impressive averages of 14.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.4 steals in 30.3 minutes per game. Williams’ remarkable skills earned him a spot on the NBA All-Rookie First Team and made him a strong contender for the Rookie of the Year award.

Josh Giddey, the sixth overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, has made waves in his rookie season. He was honored by being named to the 2023 Rising Stars team after displaying his versatility, averaging 16.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 6.2 assists in 31.1 minutes per game. Giddey’s exceptional performance has earned him the title of Western Conference Rookie of the Month four times.

Tre Mann, selected 18th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft, has already made an impact in his two seasons with the Thunder. In 127 games, including 31 starts, Mann has produced an average of 9.0 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 20.1 minutes per game. His contributions have been invaluable to the team’s success.
