Neymar suffered a potentially serious injury and had to leave Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Uruguay before halftime. In a collision with Nicolas de la Cruz, Neymar was knocked down and had to be carted off the field in tears. Initial reports from Brazilian broadcaster Globo suggest that Neymar may have suffered a severe knee twist and could have ligament damage. Richarlison replaced him on the field.
This injury is just the latest in a series of medical issues for Neymar, who has spent a significant amount of time on the sidelines over the past year. He had ankle surgery last winter and also dealt with another injury prior to his debut for Al-Hilal. Despite these setbacks, Neymar has been able to play for the Brazilian national team.
