South Korea’s Tom Kim retained his PGA Shriners Children’s Open title at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, defeating Canada’s Adam Hadwin in the closing holes.
The 21-year-old, who finished joint second at this year’s Open Championship, carded a five-under 66 to finish at 20 under.
This victory marked Kim’s third PGA Tour title, as he claimed the win by a one-shot margin over Hadwin.
Kim secured the win with a 12-foot birdie putt on the 15th hole, while Hadwin’s bogey on the 16th cost him the chance to catch up.
“It has been a long season,” said Kim. “I’m very fortunate to defend. I’ve learned so much this year. It has been a blessing. It has been very humbling.”
Starting strong, Kim birdied three of the first four holes, but consecutive bogeys on the fifth and sixth temporarily dropped him from the lead. However, he bounced back with birdies on the ninth, 12th, and 13th holes to regain control and secure the victory.
In other news, US Solheim Cup star Lexi Thompson fell short of making the cut in her PGA Tour debut, missing out by three strokes.
