Wildcats lead Tigers 14-7 in SEC college football game

LEXINGTON — Two teams in similar positions square off Saturday night at Kroger Field.

Kentucky, ranked No. 23 in the US LBM Coaches Poll and No. 24 in the Associated Press poll, enters the game with a 5-1 overall record and a 2-1 record in the SEC. They are coming off their first loss of the season against top-ranked Georgia last week. Missouri (ranked No. 25 in the coaches poll and receiving votes in the AP poll) also has a 5-1 overall record, with a 1-1 mark in SEC play. They suffered their first defeat of the season last week against LSU.

Recently, Kentucky has dominated the series between these two teams, winning seven of the past eight matchups. They have also won their last four meetings at Kroger Field, with Missouri’s last victory in Lexington coming in 2013.

In a surprising move, the Tigers score their first points with a trick play: a fake punt. Punter Luke Bauer finds Marquis Johnson for a 39-yard touchdown pass.

Kentucky’s offense continues to perform well, as they drive 64 yards in nine plays to score a touchdown. Devin Leary rushes for a 13-yard touchdown, marking his first rushing touchdown for Kentucky.

The Wildcats strike first with a touchdown on their opening possession. Quarterback Devin Leary connects with Ray Davis for a 7-yard touchdown pass.

Kentucky football injury update

Kentucky will be without junior linebacker Trevin Wallace, who leads the team in tackles for loss and sacks, for this game. Offensive lineman Jager Burton is also not dressed out. However, there is some good news as Kenneth Horsey, who has been out for the past five games, is back in uniform and participating in pregame activities.
