Oct. 12—SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — MACCRAY’s Tayte Nokleby, Greta Meyer from Montevideo, Brooke Lindeman from Morris/Chokio-Alberta, and Catherine Kehoe from Morris/Chokio-Alberta have all reached the Section 3A semifinals after the early round matches held on Thursday at the Huether Family Match Pointe Tennis Center.
Nokleby had a strong start with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Luverne’s Emma Nath, followed by a 6-2, 6-0 win against Pipestone’s Brielle Kuhn in the quarterfinals. As a result of these wins, Nokleby secured her spot in the semifinals. She will be facing Kehoe in the semifinals, scheduled to start at 8 a.m. on Tuesday in Sioux Falls.
Meyer also advanced to the semifinals, defeating Ava Oakes from Benson/Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg with a score of 6-2, 6-0, and Sara Stegenga from Luverne with a score of 6-3, 7-5. Meyer’s next opponent in the semifinals will be Lindeman.
Lindeman achieved victories against Elsie Wiebe from Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd with a score of 6-1, 6-0, and Jenna Boeke from Pipestone with a score of 6-2, 6-1.
Regarding the doubles play, teams from Morris/CA, Montevideo LQPV/D-B, and Benson/KMS all advanced to the semifinals.
The doubles team from Morris/CA consists of Ashley Koehl and Nora Meek. Montevideo’s doubles duo is Gwyn Smiens and Lily Eisenlohr. Kayla Jahn and Hannah Oie from LQPV/D-B also secured two wins in their matches on Thursday, as did Benson/KMS’ Elle Kletscher and Elise Duncan.
The doubles play will resume at 8 a.m. on Tuesday in Sioux Falls.
The ultimate prize at stake is a spot in the state Class A individual tournament, which will take place on Thursday, Oct. 26 at the Reed-Sweatt Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
