Izzi Stricker Adds Second Consecutive Wisconsin Girls State Championship Title
Izzi Stricker emerged victorious in the Wisconsin Girls State Championship for the second year in a row, adding another remarkable achievement to the already outstanding Stricker trophy case. While Steve Stricker has had an exceptional season on the Champions Tour, this time it was all about one of his daughters.
The Champions Tour took to Twitter to celebrate Izzi defending her title and even shared two heartwarming photos of the Stricker family rejoicing.
Despite her victory in the individual category, the moment held mixed emotions for Izzi as she had hoped to win for her team as well.
Things got a lot closer for Izzi as she encountered three straight bogeys on Holes 16-18. It was an unusual occurrence for the future Wisconsin Badger, as she seldom three-putts.
“Right now, all I can think about is our team. My goal was to help the five of us bring that big, golden trophy home,” expressed Stricker in an interview with Wisconsin Golf. “I’m a little disappointed at the moment, but individually, I’m quite proud of myself. The last three holes are giving me a hard time right now.”
Despite not having her best day, Izzi managed to hold it together and secure the victory. She delivered the lowest round in both days of the competition, showcasing her exceptional skills.
Considering the range of emotions experienced, Izzi’s accomplishment is truly remarkable.
Now, as a senior, Izzi will be preparing for her next chapter in college golf at the University of Wisconsin. She is following in her mother’s footsteps, as her mom was also a Badger.
